I saw you first, as you prowled around the edge of the dance floor in search of me. I turned away, but I'm sure you saw my smile winking in the red and blue light when your eyes finally lit on my blurred form. Every once in a while, throughout the night, our eyes would meet across the throbbing mass of bodies, through the haze of cigarette smoke. I swear the air crackled with electricity.
